WHY
Plymouth, England, is a city steeped in diving history, and it's the hometown of the renowned Olympic diver, Tom Daley. This connection to diving excellence has driven the city's commitment to the sport and its athletes. The Plymouth Life Centre, a beacon of health and fitness in the community, has played a crucial role in this journey.
WHAT
During the design phase of the Plymouth Life Centre, Tom Daley's coach, Andy Banks, collaborated closely with DiveGym to offer expert guidance to the architects. This unique partnership ensured that the facility would be tailor-made to meet the exacting needs of elite divers, contributing to the city's legacy of excellence in the sport. With direct input from diving experts, the end result is a magnificent training facility designed to nurture future champions.
HOW
DiveGym assumed a pivotal role during the facility's design and construction phases. Our close collaboration with the governing council, coaches, and contractors resulted in the meticulous optimization of the centre. The facility is dedicated to enhancing coaching and training, thus establishing it as a world-class venue for athletes and trainers. This centre played a significant role in shaping the future standards of FINA (now known as World Aquatics) regulations.
